The core is made of glass fibers that carry light signals, while the cladding, a thin glass layer surrounding the core, reflects light back into it. The cable is protected by an aqua-colored jacket that safeguards the fibers from physical damage and environmental factors. Both ends of the patch cord feature LC-LC connectors, which are compact, space-saving connectors that fit into tight spaces. LC, short for Lucent Connector, was developed by Lucent Technologies. These connectors utilize a push-pull mechanism, making them easy to insert and remove, and include a latch to prevent accidental disconnection.
